Promise Camp

Summer 2008 Employment Opportunities

Promise Camp is an exciting Christ-centered, residential summer camp for at-risk children. Campers range between 8 and 14 years of age and are frequently from culturally diverse, unchurched, single-parent families. The camp is divided into five one-week sessions with up to fifty campers per session. Our goal is to personally demonstrate to them the love of Christ Jesus.

Male/Female Program Director
These positions oversee all camp-wide programming, and require a lot of upfront energy and excitement to make camp a safe and fun place for kids. PDs must have the ability to lead or delegate all aspects of the program so that camp is run with excellence. The PDs work closely with the Camp Director to offer guidance and discipleship to staff and campers. PDs will also address disciplinary issues that arise among campers. Counselor
This position is an integral part of the daily operation of the camp. A Senior Counselor will live in a cabin with the up to six underprivileged youth and a junior counselor. A Senior Counselor will provide friendship, fun activities, guidance, a loving and patient heart to the kids they are assigned to supervise. Click HERE for a full job description.


Junior Counselor
This position works under the direction of the Senior Counselor as a second staff member living in a cabin with up to six underprivileged youth. A Junior Counselor will provide friendship, fun activities, guidance, a loving and patient heart to the kids they are assigned to supervise. Click HERE for a full job description.


Operations Director
This position oversees the “operations” side of camp - including ordering of food and meal preparation, camp cleanliness, and the supervision and development of camp operations staff. The Operations Director plays a key role in the training, development, and discipleship/spiritual nurturing of those on the operations staff, and often many of the camp program staff as well. This position works closely with the Camp Director regarding the daily operation of the camp and may at times be asked to assist with various aspects of camp programming. Craft Coordinator

The Craft Coordinator is responsible for planning crafts for campers to create each camp week.  The Craft Coordinator may need to order supplies and will need to keep the craft room neat and in order.  At the end of the camp season an accurate inventory should be given to the Camp Director.  The Craft Coordinator will help out other areas of the program as needed.  Click HERE for a full job description.


Head Cook
This position works within the “operations” side of camp, overseeing food preparation and presentation for the entire camp, as well as kitchen clean up, with the assistance of an Assistant Cook and Support Staff. This position works closely with the operations director regarding the planning of meals, and the ordering of needed food and supplies. Click HERE for a full job description.


Assistant Cook
This position works in conjunction with the Head Cook to prepare meals and keep the kitchen neat and orderly. In addition the Assistant Cook will help with cleanliness and safety of the bunkhouses, and the general camp property. The Assistant Cook is extremely vital to the camp program. Support Staff
This position works within the “operations” team of the camp to assist with camp games and activities, prepare meals, and keep the kitchen, bunkhouses, and the camp property clean and safe. According to their unique gifting, support staff may be called upon to help with crafts, worship, fun skits, etc. The Support Staff is extremely vital to the camp program and one must have a servant’s heart to serve in this position.
